CROSSING THE BORDER WITH YOUR VEHICLE INTO MEXICO JUST GOT EASIER

As of this December, visitors wishing to drive their vehicles into Mexico may complete the necessary temporary import documentation beforehand at the offices of the Mexican consulate located in Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Bernardino and San Francisco, as opposed to the border. The documentation can be completed at the consulate’s office up to six months prior to the trip.

For added convenience, visitors who understand Spanish may also perform the procedure online at www.banjercito.com.mx. The online option can be completed as little as 24 hours prior to the trip and up to one month.

Visitors who complete their temporary import documentation for their vehicles online or at the consulates’ offices listed above will pay U$S35.20 for the procedure, only $8.20 more than the $27 fee to complete the documentation at the border.
